Principal - Helen Irwin

Helen started dancing at the age of 3 studying Ballet, Tap, and Modern at The Anne Giliberti School of Dancing before joining Codanza as a teenager to continue her studies. At 14 Helen started assisting Caroline with younger students’ lessons to complete her Duke of Edinburgh award, it was at this time that she found her passion for teaching. Throughout her dancing career she has been in multiple shows performing Ballet, Tap, Modern, and Contemporary. She also performed in musicals with local amateur dramatic societies such as Oliver, Scrooge, and 42nd Street. After leaving Codanza as a pupil she went on to study dance at Haywards Heath College and completed her teaching qualifications with Dance2Advance. Helen became principal of Codanza in September 2019 and loves that she now gets to share and pass on her knowledge and passion for dance to all of her students. She also likes to stay as up to date as possible with the latest teaching techniques and syllabus updates by attending regular workshops.
